A simple truth about human nature and natural resources.

Despite all of the rhetoric, despite all of the calls for conservation, and despite the calls for viable energy alternatives, basic human nature dictates the following WILL happen:

- We (humans) WILL use every single drop of oil that we can get our hands on.

- We WILL mine every seam of coal that we can dig up and burn.

- We WILL find every bit of methane hydrates we can mine from the ocean bottom and burn them - despite how much methane they put into the air.

- We WILL find every bit of fissile material we can dig up and use in a reactor.

-We WILL bring every single source of non-renewable energy that we have to the brink of exhaustion.

ALL of those things, and probably more, will occur BEFORE any real, serious effort is made to come up with viable alternatives in sufficient numbers to replace our dependence on fossil and fissile fuels.

Why? Because there is money to be made off of those sources the closer to exhaustion  they become. There is money to be made off of suppressing the alternatives and making them ultra-expensive long enough to make as much money as possible off of non-renewables. And finally, there is a vast amount of money to be made (eventually) off of selling the alternatives to the planet’s inhabitants.

If you don’t believe me, just look for yourself. Ask yourself whom owns the rights and technologies behind solar and wind energy for example? Hint: Just google for “<insert oil company name here> [solar] or [wind].” Nuclear is a little different, because it is so highly controlled, but that industry is the same.

Money is all that really matters in the end.  And there is absolutely nothing that will be done to change that.
